Spot UV is a printing process that is used to add a high gloss varnish to a specific area of a printed piece.

It can be used to highlight pictures, text, logos, etc. and looks best when added to a matte/dull finish.

This process is done after the printing is complete and the matte/dull finish has been applied.

When setting up a file for spot uv, keep in mind you will need to send your finished cmyk file, as well as a file with the areas you want the uv added in black.  You can do this on a separate layer, or send a separate file altogether labeled varnish.
